Masterclasses with Professors Bogomil Karakonov and Dora Ivanova
Tanglewood Music School had the honour of hosting violin and cello masterclasses for two established professors from the Bulgarian State Academy. Professors Bogomil Karakonov and Dora Ivanova have been conducting masterclasses under Tanglewood Music School in Singapore since June 2008.

Professor Bogomil, affectionally known as “Professor Bogo”, teaches the cello. A multiple National Competition winner and winner of the Crystal Lyre Award, Professor Bogo has in turn mentored other future National Competition winners.
Professor Dora teaches the violin. And like her partner, she has also amassed prizes and honours like the special prize at both the Tchaikovsky International Competition and Munich International Music Competition.
Both professors Bogo and Dora have a total of 82 years of pedagogy experience and have taught over 400 students. Professor Dora conducting a violin masterclass
Karen Yap, principal of Tanglewood Music School, is delighted to have the two experienced pedagogues impart their musical knowledge to young aspiring musicians at Tanglewood Music School.
“It is an honour to have Professors Bogo and Dora at Tanglewood. I look forward to future collaborations with them as they are a great asset to our music scene in Singapore,” says Karen.

| Brendan Goh, a cello student from Tanglewood Music School, had the opportunity to study under Professor Bogo.
“I was a little nervous during the first lesson, because you feel abit scared. But it was fun and exciting (from) the second lesson.” admits Brendan. Brendan is a grand prize winner at last years’ Tanglewood string competition. Brendan adds that he is “a little bit sad that he (Professor Bogo) is leaving Singapore” soon. |

By organising masterclasses by professors like Bogo and Dora, Tanglewood Music School reiterates its commitment to nurture musical talents in Singapore. Tanglewood hopes to continue conducting classes by high caliber professionals who are more than experienced performers, but also patient and dedicated mentors.
