Austria 2010 - Littlewood Players Europe Tour

Austria - People all over the world say that this country is synonymous with culture. Tanglewood Music School is organising Austria 2010, a Europe tour for the Littlewood Players to perform on the world's stage.

Salzburg - Birthplace of Wolfgang A. Mozart

Our young musicians will be performing in Salzburg, the birthplace of the greatest musical genius Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, and also in the country's heritage-rich capital, Vienna.

Vienna - Capital of Austria

Other than the performances at Salzburg and Austria, the tour is also filled with activities like the Sound of Music tour, visit to Mozart's birthplace, the award-winning House of Music museum, Mozart Dinner Concert and even the Prater amusement park. The tour will be a fun-filled yet enriching musical experience for all.

Sat 19 Jun		Munich – Salzburg
	0600hrs	Arrival at Munich Airport
		Meet the local organizing committee, tour managers and transport managers. After loading your luggage, you will be on your way to the inner-city of Munich! Time to stretch your legs and walk through the very heart of the city. Tour managers will indicate places for your individual lunch before heading off to Salzburg for hotel check-in.
	1400hrs	Salzburg hotel check-in
		After check-in, free time to rest and relax.
	1800hrs	Dinner at Brewery Restaurant Kaltenhausen   Have a tour of the local brewery before dinner is served, learn how alcohol is made!

Sun 20 Jun		Salzburg (In the footsteps on Mozart)
	0700hrs	Breakfast provided at hotel
		Meet with your licensed English-speaking guide for a 2.5hour walking city sightseeing tour of Salzburg.     Includes following the footsteps of Mozart – admission to Mozart’s Birthplace. Learn about the history and background of one of history’s greatest composers.     You will have some time to shop, walk around and enjoy the sights in Salzburg. You will also take a cable-car up to Salzburg’s Fortress and see beyond Salzburg’s beautiful horizons!   An early lunch will be provided at a local restaurant before heading back to the hotel to rest.

		Rehearsal and performance at Salzburg Church Cathedral in front of local audience.
	1800hrs	Mozart Dinner Concert in Stiftskeller St. Peter
		A seduction in music and the culinary arts in the stylish ambience of the historic Baroque hall in the Stiftskeller St. Peter restaurant.     Enjoy the most popular Mozart compositions by candlelight – with music played by Salzburg artistes in historic costumes and a multi-course dinner prepared according to traditional recipes from the 17th and 18th centuries.

Mon 21 Jun		Salzburg (The Hills are Alive!)

	0830hrs	Sound of Music tour
		After breakfast, leave with your local guide for the famous “Sound of Music” tour! You will get to visit the various shooting locations, including the lake district – like Mondsee, St. Gilgen, and Lake of St. Wolfgang. The Mirabell Gardens is another place not to miss, especially when the flowers are in bloom!   Lunch will be provided – along the panoramic Lake District.
	1300hrs	Salt Mines in Hallein
		In the afternoon, visit the Salt Mines in Hallein. Down in a miner’s smock, zip down a wooden chute and cross a subterranean lake. Walk through the underground galleries to find out about the different techniques of salt extraction and the region’s role in the accumulation of wealth through this valuable substance.

Tue 22 Jun		Salzburg - Vienna

	1200hrs	Organic Farm
		After check-out, leave Salzburg to visit an Organic Farm in the beautiful surroundings of Salzburg.   Find out more about butter and cheese production – and you will have the chance to milk a cow. Enjoy lunch at the Organic Farm– eating the fresh dairy products from the visited farm.
	1500hrs	Abbey St. Florian
		On your way to Vienna, you will visit the Abbey St. Florian with its Bruckner organ. A special 20 minute private recital on this organ will be played for you.
	1630hrs	Arrival at Vienna
		Check-in and dinner provided at a local restaurant.

Wed 23 Jun		Vienna

	1000hrs	Vienna Music School performance
		Performance in a local music school and have an exchange with their students.
	1300hrs	Highlights Tour of Vienna
		Start the afternoon on a Highlights Tour of Vienna.     Drive around the Ring Boulevard, passing the Hofburg Palace, House of Parliament, City Hall, Burgtheater, Belvedere Palace and view many sights and musicians’ memorials like Beethoven, Haydn, Johann Strauss and Franz Schubert.   Lunch will be provided at a local restaurant. Finally, visit the St. Stephan’s Cathedral and pass from the Spanish Riding School and St. Michael’s Church, where the Vienna Boys Choir sing many Sunday Masses.
	1800hrs	Austrian Dinner
		Head off to the outskirts of Vienna, famed for the wine taverns, and enjoy a typical Austrian dinner with entertainment.

Thu 24 Jun		Vienna (Music & Fun!)

	1000hrs	House of Music
		This morning, you will visit the House of Music – an interactive discovery museum located in the heart of Vienna’s first district nestled between St. Stephan’s Cathedral and the Vienna State Opera. A host of interactive installations playfully communicate openness to new things, understanding the enthusiasm in approaching music and most of all, to experience music.   The House of Music was awarded the Austrian Museum Prize for its innovative design and is located in the former Palais of Archduke Charles. You will find all 67 of its inventions there. A total of 5,000 square meters has been set aside exclusively for areas dedicated to a wide array of approaches to music.
	1400hrs	Prater Fun Park
		After lunch provided at a local restaurant, visit Prater Fun Park, an amusement park for many, a place of nostalgic dreams for some, oasis of greenery for almost everyone!     Get to ride on the Giant Ferris Wheel, one of Vienna’s most recognizable symbols!   Dinner will be provided at a local restaurant.

	1300hrs	Schonbrunn Palace
		On the way to Vienna airport, visit one of the most important cultural monuments in Vienna.     The Schonbrunn Palace is a major tourist attraction whose palace and gardens illustrate the tastes, interests and aspirations of successive Habsburg monarchs.     Lunch will be provided at a local restaurant.
