Seranade to the Nation!

Littlewood Players performance at Night Safari’s National Day Celebration

The Littlewood Players played for an international audience of locals and tourists at Singapore’s Night Safari. The Night Safari, one of Singapore’s top tourist attractions, invited the Littlewood Players to perform at their National Day celebrations on August 7.

Apart from classical pieces, the Littlewood Players played some of Singapore’s well-known national songs like Di Tanjong Katong and Count On Me Singapore. It was a real treat for the audience to hear these beloved national tunes take on a “classical-twist”; credit going to Tanglewood’s conducting associate, George Sargsyan, who worked tirelessly on the arrangement.

Welcome back Mr. Peev!

With George’s arrangement, the Littlewood Players practised hard and their preparation showed. Their performance wowed the crowd as many were amazed that the players, young and ‘small’ as they are, could play in unison and sound as mature as an adult orchestra.

That is what makes the Littlewood Players special – given these performance opportunities, our young talented violinists, cellists and conductors not only play better individually, they shine together as one.

And now, the Littlewood Players will take on the world stage! What better way to showcase our young talents then to travel to the birthplace of the great Wolfgang A. Mozart. Come June 2010, our very own Littlewood Players will travel to Salzburg, Austria to perform and be heard in Europe!
