Rare String Instruments For Loan

Ever wondered what it feels like to play on a 270-year old string instrument? An instrument that survived the turn of two centuries and World Wars. And not just any instrument, but an instrument that has been played by many great maestros whose names have been etched into classical music history.

GPA Holdings is a parent company that loans out rare antique string instruments (cellos and violins) to musicians and performers who require these instruments for examinations or public performances. An exceptional performance can make the difference between pass and a distinction in an examination. An exceptional performance can propel a musician's career.

"It affects my confidence and motivation to practise. With an effective instrument that i can trust to express my feelings and ideas, performing need not be a nerve-wrecking experience, but an exciting platform for partnership between musician and instrument."

- Cassandra Lo, ABRSM distinction in Cello Performance, member of Camerata Singapore.

"I enjoyed playing on the Guadagnini, I felt the cello becoming part of my body. It knew exactly what I wanted from the music and it just sung out without me having to 'force' it.

I also feel very lucky to be the first person to play on this cello in its debut performance in Singapore!"

- Zhou Mi, multiple international award-winning cellist, first-prize winner of the Yong Siew Toh Chamber Music Concerto Competition 2004.
