"Jewels of the Bygone Era" Concert 2009

Camerata Singapore performed “Jewels of the Bygone Era” - a one-night-only performance featuring well-loved classical music pieces and exquisite string instruments from old.  “Jewels of the Bygone Era” also showcased rare string instruments being played on stage for the first time in Asia. These “jewels” featured include a 1759 Gennaro Gagliano violin, a 1780 Giuseppe Guadagnini cello, and a 1909 Giusepppe Pedrazzini violin.

A 1758 Paolo Antonio Testore violin that has not been played publicly in 50 years, as well as a 1735 David Tecchler cello worth an estimated US$800,000 were also featured during the concert.

Classical music enthusiasts were treated to well-known pieces such as the Concerto for Two Violins in D minor by J. S. Bach and the Concerto for Two Cellos in G minor by Antonio Lucio Vivaldi. The audience will also charmed by entertaining pieces such as Paul Schoenfield’s Café Music, Astór Piazolla’s Tango and Fiddle Faddle by Leroy Anderson.

“Jewels of the Bygone Era” is organized by GPA Holdings and Singapore Press Holdings’ The PEAK magazine.
